Company (Nederlands Loodswezen B.V.)

The Dutch registered pilots have united themselves to form three partnerships, the Pilots’ association:

Amsterdam-IJmond
Rotterdam-Rijnmond/North
Scheldemonden

in which they are non-managing partners. The registered pilots are shareholders of Nederlands Loodswezen BV. By joining in a limited liability partnership the registered pilots have all the support to carry out their profession.

The Nederlands Loodswezen B.V. deals with the collection of pilotage charges, the planning and transportation of the pilots and the associated administration. Nederlands Loodswezen B.V. is the managing partner of the Pilots’ association.

The registered pilots are also shareholders of Loodswezen Materieel B.V., a partnership with legal ownership of the vessels used for the transportation of the registered pilots.

A dynamic organisation

Nederlands Loodswezen B.V. is a maritime organisation, working continuously to improve the quality of its services rendered by registered pilots. Approximately 470 registered pilots handle a total of 97.000 shipping movements within the Dutch ports. Around 400 staff members provide general support for the entire pilotage organisation.

Key factors herein are maximum flexibility and quality. NLBV provides round-the-clock service to the pilots. Continued effort is being put in the improvement of quality and efficiency of the organisation. The Total Quality Management for the entire organisation is a quality management system which clearly defines procedures and methods for everybody.
